Filip Chudy from the Department of Numerical Methods of the Institute of Computer Science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Wrocław has been analyzing the data of the Ministry of Health on the coronavirus since the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic. He makes his statements and forecasts available on the Internet.
According to the scientist, it is clearly visible that we are entering the fourth wave – roughly 80 percent the sick persons are those who fell ill within the last month. People who are hospitalized are in the vast majority of those Poles who have not been vaccinated. The researcher adds that the data alone does not give the full picture of reality.
– You have to try to see a trend. You have to look for some connections and dependencies between them. This needs constructing mathematical models. Such epidemics are divided into several stages. In the first stage, the epidemic spreads exponentially. In the next stage, it calms down a little, at a later stage it goes out and the number of infected goes to zero – says the scientist.
