Dr Eng. Andrzej Żak from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology won a scholarship under the Exchange Program to the United States of the Kościuszko Foundation. The scientist will conduct research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for three months.
Dr Eng. Andrzej Żak is scientifically involved in in situ microscopy and modifying the transmission electron microscope to perform specific experiments directly during electron observations. At MIT, he will implement the project “Revealing the mechanisms of reversible self-assembly of tecton nanocomposites under the conditions of exposure to temperature and light using in situ transmission electron microscopy”.
Each year, the Kościuszko Foundation scholarship is awarded to approximately 40 researchers from Poland. Scholarship holders gain funds that allow them to start research at leading universities in the USA – incl. MIT, Stanford, Harvard or Yale.
