20.08.2021

Grzegorz Ficak, student of metallurgy at the Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, won the International Forging Olympics. He defeated 173 students from 54 universities in 19 countries.

The competitors had to solve a technological problem in the field of forging by making calculations, designing a tool for shaping a given detail, selecting technological parameters and optimizing the process. They had 6 hours for the whole task.

One of the goals of the competition was tailoring the simulation programs in the field of plastic processing of metals, prepared by young Olympians to contribute to a significant reduction of waste.

Grzegorz Ficak is a member of the Scientific Club of Metal Plastic Processing of the AGH Hefajstos, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
