In the building of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, the New Media Laboratory – Tauron Lab has started its activities. It is equipped, among other things, with a pioneering system for multi-channel sound emission in the 3D domain and a system for simulating the acoustics of rooms during live concerts and recording sessions.

The Laboratory’s resources include a rich musical and experimental instrumentarium, as well as a proprietary instrument called the ‘Tonarium’ – a futuristic tool for working with sound. It is the only such instrument in the world, the fruit of cooperation between Poland, Italy, Germany, the UK and the USA.

An additional asset is the technological facilities of LORI (Laboratory of Moving Image and Interaction) equipped with ARRI film lighting, greenscreen 360, where it is possible to record images, create interactive installations, animations, audiovisual experiments, design interfaces for interactive applications and map the user experience, generate videomapping and VJing.
