The Department of Sports Theory at the Academy of Physical Education (AWF) in Poznań has started cooperation with the Wielkopolska Football Association, as part of a project aimed at preventing the exclusion of late-adolescent female and male players.
Specialists from AWF, who for the past five years have been performing specialist tests on players of the Kotwica Kórnik club, will now carry them out among football adepts throughout the region. The tests will determine the biological age of the player, and in indicated cases will entitle him to play in a younger category, enabling further development.
The project aims to raise awareness by educating coaches training children and young people, parents and the community about the synergy of biological and motor aspects of body development. This will make it possible to introduce an individual development path into training, as well as to monitor the changes taking place in order to optimise the training process for children and young people using the bio-banding concept.
