Academy of Physical Education in Poznań to investigate ways to reduce the symptoms of menopause

02.08.2021

Researchers from the University of Physical Education in Poznań will investigate the effect of intermittent fasting on the effectiveness of physical training in preventing menopausal symptoms. Participation in the program will contribute to the improvement of body composition and weight, reduction of menopausal symptoms, improvement of memory and concentration as well as improvement of the overall quality of life.

Women can take part in the study by carrying out physical training and engaging in intermittent fasting or just by training. The physical activity assumed in the project includes peripheral training, performed on a stationary bike, elliptical cross trainer and weight training machines.

Intermittent fasting assumes eating meals in the so-called  “eating window” that lasts a maximum of 10 hours. During the rest of the day, participants can only drink water, black coffee or tea.

For each participant, a body composition analysis and a blood test will be performed (morphology, lipid panel, glucose, insulin).
