An innovative programme called “Assistant to the Start” is being launched at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The aim is to support newly admitted students with disabilities, on the autism spectrum, with ADHD and other difficulties in starting their academic adventure.

Any student who is willing to provide assistance and displays qualities such as communication skills, flexibility, kindness, empathy or responsibility can become an Assistant to Start. It is important that he or she speaks the same language or knows the language of the student he or she is supporting.

The task of the assistant is to support the student during the last five days of September and the first month of study by, among other things, helping them get from their place of residence to and from classes to their place of residence, to move around the faculty, to acclimatise with students from the course they are studying, as well as providing information on where, when and how to submit various applications and documents during the first days of study.
