Applications of the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz co-financed under the Miniatura competition

25.08.2021

Two applications from scientists from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz were included in the list of projects financed under the Miniature Competition of the National Science Center.

The funding will allow Dr Weronika Kruszelnicka to receive a research internship at Purdue University in the US, where she will implement the project “Introducing moisture as a parameter of the probability function of granular biomass grinding”. The knowledge will contribute to the development of adequate models of biomass fragmentation using the discrete element method.

Dr Eng. Tomasz Tomaszewski will carry out the preliminary research “Probabilistic modeling of the scale effect in the field of high-cycle fatigue of incrementally produced mini-samples”. The aim of the project is to work out a probabilistic approach to the effect of scale effect on the fatigue properties of objects made of aluminum alloy and stainless steel, obtained in the Additive Manufacturing technology.
