Archaeologists from the University of Warsaw (UW) discovered the ruins of the oldest Persian temple. The building is 7,000 years old and was built in Kuwait, in the Al-Subijah desert. It was located in the prehistoric settlement from the end of the 6th century BC. It was surrounded by a circular wall, which highlights its religious character.
Researchers from the Center of Mediterranean Archeology of the University of Warsaw working under the supervision of Prof. Piotr Bieliński finished their season of the Kuwaiti-Polish Archaeological Mission.
The ruins of the Persian temple are not the only discovery of the Polish-Kuwaiti team. They found large fragments of the square surrounded from three sides by buildings, located in the center of the settlement,. This is an example of quite advanced architecture, unknown to scientists before.
