Dr Eng. Paweł Zyblewski from Wrocław University of Science and Technology won the main prize in the competition of the Polish Association of Artificial Intelligence for the best Polish doctoral dissertation in AI in 2021.
The jury appreciated his work “Classifier selection for imbalanced data stream classification”. The aim of the researcher was to use the natural ability of classifier selection algorithms to deal with data unbalance and to propose new, effective solutions to the problem of classification of highly unbalanced data streams rarely discussed in the literature.
Based on these assumptions, the study formulated and substantiated the hypothesis that there are methods that use both data pre-processing and classifier selection methods that exceed the quality of prediction of the methods used in the classification of difficult data known from the literature.
