Michał Kołodziej, the author of the master’s thesis defended at the Cracow University of Technology (PK) “Bringing back a forgotten history. Revitalization of the former Jewish quarter in Przedbórz”, won the first prize in the competition for the best master’s projects under the name” Wood in Architecture “.
The competition is aimed to present the values of wood as a construction, building and finishing material. It was organized by the Faculty of Architecture of the Białystok University of Technology and Unibep and Danwood companies belonging to the largest European producers of wooden residential buildings.
In its assessment, the jury indicated that the award for Michał Kołodziej was granted for: “attempting to solve the difficult problem of the lost memory of Poland’s multicultural past”. His project concerns the area of the wooden synagogue destroyed by the Nazis in Przedbórz in the Łódź Province.
