The Faculty of Biology of the University of Szczecin organizes for the seventh time the Biologists’ Spring. The organizers invite participants to follow the spring on Friday, 11 May. The program includes interesting shows and attractive workshops, exhibitions and other curiosities.
As part of the event, the participants will be able to see “Herbarium Stetinensis” – the first herbarium in the history of Szczecin, which includes collections of vascular plants, lichens, fungi and historical German collections from 1837-1939. In the Herbarium resources there are currently approx. 55 thousand specimens.
During the event the scientists will talk about saving species threatened with extinction – for example the noble crayfish. Also, the guests will have a chance to transfer plant explants to various broths visiting in vitro laboratory. Dozens of insects and tropical arachnids with various species of lichens and fungi will be presented at the special exhibition.
