The BSL-3 Laboratory for Rapid Epidemiological Response will be established in Wrocław. It will be an element of the Population Diagnostics Center, launched by Łukasiewicz – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education decided to allocate PLN 3.8 million in Treasury bonds for this purpose.
It will be the first such advanced laboratory in western Poland, and at the same time one of only a few centers in the whole country.
The Population Diagnostics Center will combine the scientific competences of a large and diverse team, unique infrastructure and equipment of the institute, as well as the massive capabilities of crisis diagnostics and epidemic forecasting. It will enable research on modern diagnostic methods for many infectious and civilization diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, obesity, neurodegenerative diseases and mental disorders.
