The new headquarters of the Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice won the main prize of the international competition Wienerberger Brick Award 2020. The building also won in the Sharing Public Spaces category.
The jury of the Wienerberger Brick Award recognizes original architectural objects with predominant use of ceramic materials. The competition has national and international levels. The building of the Katowice Film School, won the national competition, what enabled to participate in the international competition and represent Polish architecture.
The laureate of this year’s competition is a design by Baas Arquitectura, Grupa 5 Architekci and the MAŁECCY project office. The project combines the values of a modern and timeless architecture. Preserving the historical features of the building effected in subtle fitting it into the local context, becoming at the same time the guardian and interpreter of the past.
