April “Girls go to the technical universities!” Campaign is the largest project promoting technical, engineering and exact majors among young women in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe. The project started in 2006 and this year technical universities in Poland invite girls for an open day on 19th of April.
The initiators of the action are the Conference of Rectors of Polish Technical Universities and the Perspektywy Educational Foundation. The most important goal is to overcome stereotypes and encourage upper secondary school female students to start technical and exact studies.
The culminating point of the campaign is the National Open Day for Girls. Women working at universities, lecturers, but also female students and graduates meet with students to tell them about their career path and professional fascinations. They invite girls to visit the laboratories and organize special workshops, lectures and demonstrations for them.
