From October 20, 2021, the next full-time undergraduate course of Family studies and specialization studies: Assistant of a dependent person will start in the Remand Prison in Lublin. Fourteen inmates will become students of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL).
Fr. Prof. Mirosław Kalinowski, the rector of the Catholic University of Lublin, emphasized, that thanks to this cooperation, prisoners can successfully use the time of their sentence for their own not only intellectual but also social development. For them, studies are a way to readaptation and help them return to functioning in society with new skills and knowledge – added the rector.
KUL is one of the few universities in Poland that enable prisoners to obtain higher education. Inmates follow the full program of university classes, but they are held in custody.
