A measurement campaign implemented at the Department of Climatology and Atmospheric Protection at the University of Wrocław has been launched. The campaign is being carried out as part of the university’s PM Cost project and the ACTRIS PL project.
The aim of the campaign is to obtain measurement data on air quality for a selected area of Wrocław (Sępolno housing estate), using a range of the latest measurement techniques, as well as to exchange information on the optimal methodology for their use.
The researchers succeeded in obtaining the first information on the composition of the air in Wrocław’s Biskupin and Sępolno districts. Despite the low concentrations of PM, it was found that, in addition to soot resulting from coal combustion, there are also chlorine compounds in the air composition, indicating the combustion of plastics.
At a further stage, the collected data will be used for analyses of air quality conditions during the campaign and for methodological work and analyses related to local air quality modelling.
