The Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw (UW) is expecting doctoral theses to be submitted until 30 September 2023 for the Jadwiga and Zbigniew Kruszewski Prize Competition.
The prize will be awarded to the author of the best doctoral thesis in the area of humanities and social sciences on the issue of borders in the 20th century between: Poland and Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine, Poland and Belarus, Poland and Lithuania, Poland and the Soviet Union/Russia.
The organisers require from the authors of the submitted work: citizenship of one of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Germany or the former Soviet Union; completion of doctoral studies; a thesis presented at a Polish university (regardless of the doctoral student’s citizenship) or a thesis submitted by a Polish citizen abroad.
The author of the winning thesis will receive a financial award of PLN 25,000 gross, a diploma and the publication of the thesis in print in the Eastern European Studies series.
The possibility of awarding 2nd and 3rd prizes (PLN 15 000 and PLN 10 000 gross respectively) is also envisaged.
