During the ISC High Performance 2023 conference in Hamburg, the latest TOP500 list, supercomputers with the highest computing power in the world, was announced. Two supercomputers Athena and Ares operating at the Academic Computer Centre (ACK) Cyfronet of the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) once again topped the list.
This year’s spring TOP500 list (top500.org) is already the seventh listing in which more than one supercomputer from ACK Cyfronet AGH has been included. In addition, Cyfronet’s computers were included in the Green500 list of the most energy-efficient supercomputers.
Athena is now Cyfronet’s flagship system, achieving a theoretical computing power of over 7.7 PFlops, which secured 123rd place in the latest edition of the list and makes it still the fastest supercomputer in Poland.
The Ares supercomputer offers a total computing power of more than 4 PFlops, which allowed it to take 362nd place on the list.
