Conference “25 years of Poland in NATO. And if there was no Alliance…” held at the University of Warsaw

On 8 March 2024, the Old Library on the campus of the University of Warsaw (UW) hosted a meeting dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.

The conference ’25 Years of Poland in NATO. And if there was no Alliance…’ was organised by the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the UW.

The event was attended by the former President of the Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski, who was in office at the time of Poland’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance, the former Prime Minister and MEP Professor Jerzy Buzek, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

The opening speech of the event was given by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski. Another highlight of the conference was a conversation with former President Aleksander Kwasniewski and Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek moderated by Ambassador Tadeusz Diem. During the debate, the politicians talked about the process of Poland’s accession to the North Atlantic Alliance and the contemporary challenges for NATO countries related to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
