The University of Economics in Katowice and the City of Katowice are cooperating for the development of the region. The agreement signed by the partners is an extension of the Mayor’s previous honorary patronage of the specialisation Programming Urban Development (currently one of the specialisations within the specialisation Urban Economy and Real Estate).
The agreement is also an extension of the idea of cooperation between the local government sector and the university sector for the transformation and development of the capital of the Silesian Voivodeship, particularly in the context of activities related to obtaining the title of European City of Science 2024 and the transformation of coal regions.
The agreement also means a number of benefits for the city of Katowice itself. Among other things, the capital of the Silesian Voivodeship will have the opportunity to determine the areas of research in the field of spatial economy, economic sciences and related humanities disciplines developed at the university, the results of which are important for Katowice and its related entities.
