“Artists, actors and writers are even spoilt for choice with the number of awards they can apply for. It is high time to take care of scientists. The De Republica Institute wants to make an important contribution to this”, said its director, Professor Andrzej Przyłębski, at the De Republica Institute Awards ceremony.

The winners of the second edition of the De Republica Institute Prize for outstanding scientific achievements in the humanities and social sciences were:

In the humanities: ex æquo Dr Katarzyna Marciniak and Dr Tomasz Herbich;

In the field of social sciences: Dr Joanna Smogorzewska;

For international activities in the humanities or social sciences: Dr Leszek Gardeła;

For lifetime achievement in the humanities or social sciences: ex æquo Dr Andrzej Nowak and Dr Krzysztof Koseła.

The aim of the De Republica Institute Prize is to support and promote the most talented young scholars conducting research in the humanities and social sciences, as well as to recognise outstanding Polish scientists who, through their work and overall scientific output, are an inspiration to younger generations.
