-It is high time that we began to consistently, over departmental and party divisions, to fight smog that damages the health of Poles, which causes deaths of several dozen thousand people a year and is a source of many financial losses – said Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Science Jarosław Gowin after the meeting devoted to the fight with smog in the Krakow agglomeration.
Representatives of the government, local government and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management have debated on comprehensive measures to combat smog in Lesser Poland.
Individual ministries and agencies offer various anti-smog programs. One of the main achievements of the Polish government in reducing low emissions, Minister of Development Jadwiga Emilewicz mentioned the regulation on the quality of heating boilers, the Act and the regulation on the quality of solid fuels and the so-called thermo-modernization act, which will allow the start of thermo-modernization pilotage program in the most smog polluted cities.
