Deputy Prime Minister Gowin meets the head of Portuguese diplomacy

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Language and Culture of the Luzo-Brazilian Institute of Iberian and Ibero-American Studies at the University of Warsaw, Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, visited Poland. During his stay he met Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin, Minister of Science and Higher Education.

Ministers talked about ways to strengthen student exchange and research collaboration. The proper institution is the National Academic Exchange Agency. Its main task is to bring Polish scientists working abroad back to Poland, as well as intensifying contacts with foreign researchers.

Over the past few years, the number of foreigners studying in Poland has increased. Among them were over 1,000 Portuguese students what makes Portugal the sixth country in terms of Erasmus + students coming to Poland. About 120 Portuguese academic employees visit yearly Polish universities – informs the Ministry of Science.
