Deputy Prime Minister Gowin: The Łukasiewicz research network to boost innovation

08.03.2019

The Łukasiewicz research network will allow the research institutes to cooperate instead of competing with each other, – said Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education.

Gowin emphasized that such a network of research institutes will give a real scientific basis for the development of the Polish economy and ensures a more innovative character. In his opinion, Poland is successful in terms of traditional industries, but it does worse in terms of innovative, cutting edge products.
There are 111 research institutes in Poland. The Łukasiewicz’s network include 37 of them.

– We did not merge all the institutes. In fact, they are subjected to sixteen different ministries, and most ministries believed that they should be under the control of those institutes that perform industry functions. We respect these decisions – stated the head of the Ministry of Science.
