Students from the Academic Aviation Club of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology took the second place in the SAE Aero Design East 2020 competition in Florida. Their unmanned aircraft in the Advanced class received very high marks for project presentation, technical report and mission performance.

Advanced category include airplanes with a wingspan of 3.35 m, lifting the heaviest static load possible, locating a point on the ground and dropping as much as 1 kg of cargo from a height of 30 m. The competition committee assesses not only the performance of the mission, but also the presentation of the project and the technical report of the aircraft.

The university team competed with over 60 teams from around the world. Wrocław students also had to face completely different atmospheric conditions than those in Poland. In the Advanced class they gave way only to the American team from the Georgia Institute of Technology, while in the Micro class they failed to take the medal position.
