Kasia Gajka from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk became one of the winners of the German Design Award 2023, receiving a Special Mention in the category Excellent Communications Design, Books and Calendars. The jury appreciated her thesis “Her Quantumness”.

“Her Quantumness” is a graphic design and illustration development of a book on quantum physics. It is a transdisciplinary, visual-artistic interpretation of phenomena in quantum mechanics, in which science and art coexist, providing equal sources of insight into this still elitist, non-intuitive field of knowledge.

“I wanted to create this world anew, to present its mechanisms in a way that no one had done before, thus breaking up homogeneous, repetitive visual patterns. Hence, the way phenomena are presented from the perspective of quantum physics is innovative, non-schematic, fresh, blurring the impassability between the micro and macro scales”, says the winner.
