Dr Monika Bobako from the Laboratory of Frontier Questions of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań becomes a laureate of the 21st Competition for Jan Długosz prize. The award was received during the International Book Fair in Krakow for the book “Islamophobia as a technology of power. Study on political anthropology.”

Professor Ryszard Nycz, in his laudation, said that the book written by Monika Bobako is the first attempt in the Polish humanities to deal with the phenomenon of Islamophobia, which is important in contemporary social life.

– It can be said that this book is involved, and even interventionist, in the best humanistic sense of the term; it proposes an original study and solution of a socially important problem in a way that leads to a change in mental and social attitudes – said Prof. Nycz.
