Seven scientific entities are taking part in the eCUDO project, which aims to collect and share scientific research results and data from all fields related to oceanography. The project’s leader is the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Sopot.
The Electronic Centre for Oceanographic Data Sharing (eCUDO) encompasses a comprehensive description of the marine environment of the Baltic Sea and other areas including the seabed, atmosphere and coastal zone. Information on research results, including survey data, covers various scientific disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, biology, meteorology, climatology and geology.
The system was developed at the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This facility currently has around four million digitised data available for potential users, which occupies around five hundred terabytes. These are data collected in the field and during research cruises aboard the Oceania ship.
