As many as three awards went to employees and graduates of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia during the 47th Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia.
The Golden Lions for the best film was received by a graduate of the Silesian university’s film and television directing department, Agnieszka Smoczyńska, for her production The Silent Twins. The main characters of the film are twins June and Jennifer Gibbons, who communicate only with each other. The story was based on the fates of real people.
Lecturers from the Film School were also honoured during the competition. The individual award for directorial debut or second film was presented to Dr Beata Dzianowicz for her film ‘Strzępy’. The production depicts her struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. The Platinum Lions for lifetime achievement were awarded to Prof. Dr. Filip Bajon – director of ‘Kamerdyner’ (2018) and ‘Przedwiośnie’ (2001).
