The EU-LIFE international research consortium stated in its position on Europe’s health security, that only discovery-based research embedded in a strong health care system will provide Europe with lasting and quick solutions to our society’s health problems.

In Barcelona, the international research consortium EU-LIFE associating 14 leading European research institutes in the field of life sciences, including the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, announced the new concept of ensuring health safety in Europe. The concept will be based on the conclusions drawn from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its authors stated, that the health and well-being of European citizens require a long-term vision and better cooperation between these countries, which will ultimately help to prepare better and respond to future potential health threats and crises.

The European Union’s multiannual financial framework must focus more on health security and strengthen its foundations.
