The Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology will implement the project “Sustainable Building Lime Applications via Circular Economy and Biomimetic Approaches (SUBLime)”. The research is financed under the Horizon 2020 program.
The purpose of the interdisciplinary project is to create new areas of application for lime- the most traditional building material, in the aspect of sustainable development based on the principles of circular economy and using the achievements of biomimetics.
In addition to the Silesian university, the research group include: Universidade do Minho (Portugal), Universidad de Granada (Spain), Technische Universitat Darmstadt (Germany), Technische Universiteit Delft (Netherlands), Universiteit Gent (Belgium). The list of partners is completed by 11 companies and organizations from Belgium, Spain, Germany, Denmark and Great Britain. The project will be implemented for 48 months. Co-financing for the Silesian University amounts to approx. 455,000. euros, the budget of the whole project is over 3.7 million euros.
