The Carpathian region including its ethnolinguistics and cultural studies are main topic of the BA study that the Jagiellonian University in Krakow is planning to launch in the academic year 2021-2022.
For three years, students of the new study will learn two Carpathian languages: Slovak and Ukrainian, and they will have the opportunity to learn the basics of a third language, choosing Romanian or Lemko dialect. In each semester, one of the subjects will also be taught in English to enable students to learn the lexis related to all studied disciplines with which the studies.
In addition, future students will learn the social, cultural and religious specificity of the Carpathian region, common elements of Carpathian cultures, and at the same time their distinctiveness, including issues of national, ethnic and religious minorities.
