A year has passed since Przemysław Czarnek was appointed the Minister of Education and Science (MEiN). At that time, the head of the ministry carried out various activities in the field of higher education and science. The most important of them include: development of the Academic Freedom Package, support for universities to counteract the effects of the pandemic, preparation of a new program “Development of scientific journals” and assuring salary increases for university employees.
In his first year in office, minister Czarnek launched the K. Kalinowski Program for citizens of Belarus, and MEiN has signed an agreement with NASA regarding the implementation of a project that will allow for better recognition of the heliosphere and its reaction with the closest galactic surroundings of the Sun.
The Ministry of Science also supported universities. Support for public universities offering education in medical faculties amounted to PLN 60 million, public universities in connection with remote education amounted to over PLN 55 million, and support for non-public universities and research institutes entitled to receive funds for running doctoral schools amounted to over PLN 1.8 billion.
