Foundation for Polish Science awards scholars

Professors Timothy Snyder, Krzysztof Pachucki, Andrzej Gałęski and Andrzej Dziembowski, became the laureates of the 27th Foundation Award for Polish Science.

The prize winners are Prof. Andrzej Dziembowski from the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) in Warsaw in the field of life sciences and earth for explaining the function of key RNA-degrading enzymes, whose disturbances lead to pathological states; Professor Andrzej Gałęski from the Center of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Łódź in the field of chemical sciences and materials for the development of a new plastic deformation mechanism for polymers; Professor Krzysztof Pachucki from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw in the field of mathematics, physics and engineering sciences for precise quantum-electrodynamic calculations of spectroscopic parameters of light atoms and molecules; Professor Timothy Snyder from Yale University in the field of humanities and social sciences for the analysis of the political and social mechanisms that in the twentieth century led to national conflicts and genocide in Central Europe.
The prize is 200,000PLN.
