Foundation for Polish Science to launch the Leszek Kołakowski Scholarship Competition

The Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) is launching the third competition the Leszek Kołakowski Scholarship Competition addressed to outstanding philosophers and historians of ideas.

The purpose of the scholarship is to award scholars who can boast of outstanding achievements in the field of the history of ideas and medieval and modern philosophy until 1939 from the very beginning of their scientific career. An annual scholarship of PLN 100,000 can be awarded to both a Polish and foreign scientist.

The competition is conducted in a closed mode, based on nominations. Candidates for the scholarship are nominated by prominent representatives of science from around the world.

The laureate will be selected by a jury composed of philosophers and historians of ideas of international authority: Dr Dmitri Levitin from the University of Oxford, Prof. Steven Nadler from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Prof. Dominik Perler from the Humboldt University in Berlin, Prof. Bogdan Szlachta from the Jagiellonian University, Dr Caterina Tarlazzi from the University of Ca’Foscari in Venice and Prof. Catherine Wilson from the University of New York.
