More than PLN 2.6 million will be given to scientists of the Wrocław University of Life Sciences for their research. The money is provided by grants awarded in the PRELUDIUM BIS 4 competition of the National Science Centre.
The realisation of the project by a team led by Prof. Krzysztof Grzymajła will help develop current knowledge of the pathogenesis of Salmonella, which may lead to improved methods of prevention and treatment of salmonellosis in the future.
Prof. Ewa Wałecka-Zacharska’s project will increase food safety and reduce foodborne illnesses caused by Campylobacter jejuni bacteria.
Prof. Joanna Kolniak-Ostek’s research is expected to help develop preparations with enhanced health-promoting properties from coloured raspberry varieties, while Prof. Zbigniew Lazar will look into the use of yeast from the Yarrowia branch, which is characterised by a high capacity to accumulate intracellular lipids, in biofuel production.
