The project ‘SUNCOCAT: Rational design of efficient energy and charge transfer in bioelectrodes for direct conversion of CO2 into fuel’, led by Prof. Joanna Kargul from the University of Warsaw (UW) Centre for New Technologies, has received funding in the Solar-Driven Chemistry network competition for solar energy projects.

The SUNCOCAT project aims to significantly improve the efficiency of the conversion of carbon dioxide into other chemicals using solar energy. “We will use rationally designed photoactive biocatalyst hybrid systems in the project, whose novel nanoarchitecture, using graphene, DNA nanostructures and plasmonic nanoparticles, will ensure optimal electron flow without feedback and electrical short circuits”, says Prof. Joanna Kargul.
