The Architecture Department of the Gdańsk University of Technology will cooperate with the City of Sopot. The partners signed a letter of intent – a declaration of cooperation in the field of development and revitalization of Sopot, including through the joint organization of student architectural competitions.
– The cooperation of the Gdańsk University of Technology and the city is long-term and very fruitful. No major facility in Sopot would have been built if it had not been developed the cooperation between the city and the University of Technology. The best example is the Opera Leśna with a unique roof structure, but also the construction of the Haffner Center or the railway station. Thanks to this cooperation, we also have an architectural class in Sopot’s High School No. 1, ” – says President of Sopot Jacek Karnowski.
The first project under the signed declaration of cooperation is ongoing work on developing a new concept and reconstruction of the Opera Leśna. Design works will concern the entire infrastructure and the area around the facility, excluding the stage and the audience.
