In this year’s CWTS Leiden Ranking, Gdańsk University of Technology recorded an improvement in the ​​category of scientific influence and obtained the best result among 31 Polish universities included in this ranking.

CWTS Leiden Ranking is based on bibliographic data from the Web of Science database. This year’s competition includes 1,225 universities from 69 countries and focuses on publications from 2016-19. It classifies universities by 4 indicators: scientific impact, collaboration, the number of open access publications and gender diversity.

The ranking is also published in 5 scientific areas: biomedical and health sciences; life and earth sciences; mathematics and computer science; physical sciences and engineering; social sciences and humanities.

In this year’s ranking, Gdańsk University of Technology was successful in the area of ​​scientific impact. With a result of 9.2%, it was the best among 31 Polish universities and ranks 251 in Europe and 613 in the world.
