Dr Eng. Karolina Zielińska-Dąbkowska from the Faculty of Architecture at the Gdansk University of Technology has become the main author of a text in the American “Science”. This is the first such publication with the affiliation of the Gdansk University of Technology in this prestigious journal.
The author invited experts from Europe and the United States to collaborate on the article. In the text, the authors synthesise research work from recent years on the impact of nocturnal artificial light pollution on public health, present the state of current knowledge, identify critical areas for future research and draw attention to recent policy steps, referring among other things to the effects of the energy crisis.
Remedial proposals, including recommendations for reducing and better managing lighting in urban areas, are an important part of the text.
