A consortium of the Gdansk University of Technology and the Department of Automation and Measurement Equipment AREX from Gdynia will develop a system for the generation and emission of high-power microwave electromagnetic pulses to counter attacks and harmful activity by unmanned aerial vehicles.

As part of the project, research will be conducted into modelling and simulation of electromagnetic phenomena in systems for the generation and emission of high-power microwave electromagnetic pulses. For the implementation of the project, scientists obtained nearly PLN 21.8 million from the National Centre for Research and Development.

Based on the results of this research, a system technology demonstrator will be built, which will then be subjected to laboratory and field tests. The project “System of generation and emission of high-power electromagnetic impulses in application to counteract BSP”, codenamed “STRATUS”, is carried out for the defence and security of the state.
