The team of the Polymer Technology Department of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Gdańsk University of Technology won the main prize for the best product in 3D Printing Days competition organized by Kielce Trade Fairs and the Polish Association of Technology Initiatives – informs the university on its website.
The award was granted for compostable and biodegradable granulate for the production of supporting filaments obtained from renewable raw materials – BioGranAqua. The granulate is made from polymer compositions developed in the department of polymer technology basing on the invention protected by a European patent.
At the Kielce trade fair, the scientists presented granulate itself and its characteristics as well as the prototype of filaments obtained from it. They are environmentally friendly – they disintegrate in water and are susceptible to organic recycling. They can be an alternative to supporting filaments obtained from petrochemical raw materials.
