In January 2019, the architecture faculty of the Gdańsk University of Technology will start a new specialty Integrated coastal zone management within Spatial Management department. This type of specialization has not been so far implemented at any Polish university.

Students of the new course will learn the principles of planning and spatial development in the areas where land and sea meet. They will acquire knowledge in the field of urban and spatial planning, port areas management and port and industrial structures, and also learn the natural foundations of planning, with particular emphasis on the principles of ecosystem protection between land and sea.

Graduates of integrated coastal zone management will find work in governmental and local government institutions involved in spatial planning, as well as in institutions related to maritime affairs or operating in the coastal zone.
