Gdynia Maritime University and Polska Grupa Energetyczna to develop offshore wind energy

Gdynia Maritime University and Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE) have signed a letter of intent on expert cooperation in research and implementation. The goal is to develop offshore wind energy in Poland. Joint activities will include a wide range of research and analysis, exchange of experiences, as well as assistance in establishing and equipping the university’s Offshore Center. 

The center will help acquiring knowledge and skills necessary in the process of educating staff for the Polish maritime economy. The project received the support of the Minister of Infrastructure and the Minister of Education and Science.

The partners’ activities will also include the implementation of hydrological, hydrometeorological, hydrochemical and geomorphological analyzes, as well as research in the field of navigation, safety and rescue in maritime transport. The university will provide substantive and research support in planning activities to minimize the impact on the natural environment in the construction of PGE offshore wind farms.
