German team wins the international robotics competition in Kielce

The sixth international robotics competition ERC Space and Robotics Event was won by the German team ERIG e.V from the Technical University in Braunschweig. The Czech team RoverOva from the Technical University in Ostrava came second. Third place was taken ex equo by: DJS Antariksh from India and Robocol from Colombia.

This year, the competition was organized in a hybrid form. The participants, connecting from their countries, controlled remotely a robot of the Polish company Leo Rover, moving on the largest artificial Martian track in the world,at the Kielce University of Technology.

26 teams from 14 countries around the world took part in two field competitions, completing the tasks, which will be performed by rovers on the surface of Mars, and participating in presentation of their solutions to the jury.

The co-organizers of ERC 2020 include the European Space Foundation, Special Economic Zone “Starachowice” S.A., Kielce University of Technology, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which co-financed the project from the “Social Responsibility of Science” program.
