Gowin: It’s scientists proposed a new classification of disciplines

10.09.2018

Astronomy and physics in many countries of the world are treated as a common discipline. The proposal to consolidate these disciplines into common physical sciences did not come from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education – said Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister head of the Ministry of Science, in the “Graffiti” program of Polsat News.

– I have asked the most representative scientific bodies to prepare a proposal for a new classification of disciplines: the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, the Main Council of Science and Higher Education and the Central Commission for Degrees and Titles. Experts and scientists themselves, proposed such a classification – Deputy Prime Minister Gowin explained.

As the Minister of Science added, now these proposals are consulted, and the decision will be taken after collecting the opinion.
– We have a record number of over 100 disciplines. In most European countries there are several dozen of them. In the canonical classification of the OECD Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, there are only 38 – added Deputy PM Gowin.
