Gowin: Our new law is a deepened evolution, not a chaotic revolution

02.10.2018

– The Constitution for Science has three pillars: dialogue, impulse for development and freedom. We are extending and strengthening the autonomy of the university. The new law is a deepened evolution, not a chaotic revolution,”- said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin at a meeting of the rectors of Polish high schools in Warsaw.

The event, which started the academic year 2018/2019, was attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who stressed that “we are entering a new year with a new law on science and higher education, which will be a milestone in the development of Poland”.

In turn, Prof. Jan Szmidt, chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, stressed that the academic community felt responsible for the reform of science.

– 100 years behind us and 100 years ahead of us. We scientists, teachers – we bring up those who will decide about Poland in the future. We feel like co-creators of the reform. We feel this responsibility. We want to implement it wisely – said Prof. Szmidt.
