From 21 to 28 January 2023, the 34th Trieste Film Festival was held. Among the winners of the festival awards were people from the Krzysztof Kieslowski Film School of the University of Silesia in Katowice.
Two prizes, the audience award for the best documentary film and the Transeuropa Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso prize, were awarded to Piotr Rosolowski, a graduate of the University of Silesia Film School, for his film The Hamlet Syndrome (2022), which he co-directed with Elwira Niewiera. The jury appreciated the profound reflection on the issue of choice contained in the production and the attempt to reconcile individual and collective perspectives.
Professor Krzysztof Zanussi, a lecturer at the Silesian University’s Film School, was also recognised at the festival. The Eastern Star awarded to him is presented to filmmakers whose work builds bridges between Eastern and Western culture.
