The diploma thesis of Emanuela Skowrońska, a graduate of architecture at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, has been awarded in two competitions. The laureate created the concept of adapting the southern part of the gothic tenement house at ul. Mostowa 6 in Toruń.
The young architect was awarded in this year’s Competition of the General Conservator of Monuments and the Association of Monument Conservators for the best study, scientific and popularization works on the protection of monuments and museology – 2020 and the competition of the Society of Toruń Enthusiasts for diploma theses on Toruń.
The aim and the guiding principle of the project was to provide new functionality to the ruined tenement house in order to restore it to the city and its inhabitants in the most historically faithful and visually attractive form. The proposed function of a wine cellar with wine warehouses gives the building a chance for a new life with as little interference as possible into the historic structure of the building.
